Christopher Academy of Scotch Plains and Westfield Children’s Pajama Drive for Charity

Over the years it has been a tradition at Christopher Academy, The Montessori School, to celebrate the start of the winter season with a Pajama Day. This is a special time wherein the children, faculty and staff don their coziest pajamas and have a fun day leading into the holiday break. During the cold winter days ahead we want to help those less fortunate. In an effort to reach out to this community at large Christopher Academy instituted a Children’s Pajama Drive with donations of children-sized pajamas to local charities.

This proved to be a wonderful opportunity for families to share with their own children the gift of giving. Maria Montessori wrote, “The child is both hope and a promise for mankind.” It is in such acts of charity and kindness that sensitivity, social consciousness and social conscience are developed – a few hallmarks of a Montessori education.
