Our Christopher Academy parent volunteers worked with the children in weaving placemats that were to be distributed as a special gift to those homebound recipients of "Mobile Meals of Westfield."  Each year the students work on a social outreach project that is chosen in collaboration between the school and CAPA, our parent organization.

Developing a social consciousness is one of the tenets of the Montessori philosophy and one that Maria Montessori so dearly espoused.  In doing such projects the children are not only using their skills in focus, concentration and manual dexterity but are developing a true sense of giving while making a beautiful and useful piece of art.
